Microsoft Ending Windows 7 Support – Know What To Do

Windows 7 is a well-known Windows version that is still being used in large numbers in our country and worldwide even after all these years of release. Unfortunately, Microsoft has finally announced the end of support for Windows 7. Until now, Microsoft has been providing necessary security updates for Windows 7, thereby addressing any vulnerabilities in the older operating system.

Microsoft announced the end of support for Windows 7 on January 20, 2020. However, extended security updates are promised until January 2023, which is about to expire. Windows 7 was released in 2009. After 5 years of release, the life of support of this software version ended in January 2015, Microsoft announced the end of extended support after 5 years. Extended Security Updates were the only way to use legacy Microsoft products on older computers.

However, not only Windows 7, but also Windows 8 and 8.1 support has ended through Microsoft's announcement. However, Windows 8 users will still receive updates as needed as part of the Extended Software Update program.

What will happen to the old computer when Windows 7 support ends?

If you're one of the Windows 7 users, it's time to say goodbye to your old system and upgrade. You should update your old Windows 7 computer to Windows 10 or Windows 11 to get the latest security updates and continue using Chrome.

Chrome 110 is coming next month, Google said, and Chrome 109 is going to be the last version that will run on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. This means that the new version of Chrome will not work on the mentioned operating system. But the bigger problem is that devices running Windows 7 are currently at the greatest risk of malware attacks.

Microsoft has advised Windows 7 users to upgrade to Windows 10. According to Microsoft, most Windows 7 devices will be upgraded to Windows 11, but users can buy Windows 10 and install the full version of the software. On the other hand, support for Windows 10 is going to end on October 14, 2025, so Microsoft advised to keep this in mind while upgrading.

If your device doesn't support a recent Windows version, Microsoft recommends replacing the PC. When buying a new PC it is best to buy a PC that supports the latest Windows 11.

Windows 11 was released in 2021 and since its release, Microsoft is still working to improve it. Much like a modified version of Windows 10, this new software is the future of PC operating systems according to Microsoft.

The latest Microsoft Windows operating system has many new features like Voice Access which controls the PC by voice, Live Caption which shows captions from audio in realtime, etc. Besides, various apps, settings and programs have new features and improvements.
